APRIL NEWS

Hi there, well after such a great 2018 thanks to all of you guys and the wonderful people I have met along the way, it’s difficult to know just where to begin.

One again The Good Lord has blessed me with so many things and new people along the road, and I am eternally grateful for this. As you know in September last year (2018) I was blessed to be able to play with my band at The UK Country Music Radio Awards. This was a fantastic event organised by Allan Watkiss and his lovely team and it was very well attended. There were some great artists and bands playing and I played a 30 minute set with songs from my album Cross Country. The atmosphere was great and the after awards events went on till the early hours.

AMERICA

Later that same month I travelled to San Francisco and had a fantastic time there. It’s one of my favourite cities. Then we travelled on down to Monterey, Carmel, San Luis Obispo and San Diego, before going back up to Sausalito for a few days before flying home to Glasgow. I met some really lovely people and great musicians….big hi to Chris and Mary from The Carmel Hat Company, still wearing that hat!

CROSS COUNTRY

Several songs from the Cross Country album are still charting and doing really well in many countries, and my song “Scars and Stripes” is attracting loads of attention in the UK, USA and Europe. It has been nominated as single of the year by UK Country Music Radio and the album Cross Country has also been nominated for album of the year.

GIGS

I have been doing a lot more solo gigs and events, and although this presents a different dynamic to the music and to travelling on the road, it’s made life a lot easier and more flexible when it comes to rehearsing and changing set lists at the last minute! I do miss the guys in the band though and will definitely look at putting a band together again in the future. However, going solo makes me more available and able to say yes to a lot more offers. Please do get in touch if you would like me to play anywhere near you.

ENGLAND

I played in York in November and had a great time with Danny McMahon, Rachel Sellick and Holly Rose Webber. Really lovely people and I am hoping to continue working with them over the coming years. I also met a lovely guy and very talented musician/songwriter Paul Mirfin and I am planning a show with him over the coming months. I was blessed to see Danny perform at The BCMA Awards in Harrogate and he was outstanding.

NEW ALBUM!

So, the brand new album Missing Person will be released on 10th May 2019 with the first single from that album Tick The Box being released on 3rd May 2019 and is available to pre-order now. This is a very different album from the previous one (Cross Country) and there is definitely a “darker” side to it, with most of the songs being about “runaways” in one form or another, whether it be children from rich backgrounds who have run away from home, or veterans who can’t settle back into ‘normal life’, or just people who are struggling to cope with the cards that life has dealt them. There are still 12 great tracks with very strong lyrics and melodies (I know I’m biased!) and I am sure you will love them and be able to relate to them.

I will be playing in Jersey this May with Dina Andrews for the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity, (at the Hotel De Normandie) a great cause and I’m really looking forward to that. Then in September I’m back across the pond to play some events in New York, Nashville and Pensacola. God is good for sure!!

Will keep you all posted on everything that’s happening, but you can keep up to date on my Facebook page.

God bless,
Michael
