HIGHLIGHTS AND NEW ALBUM RELEASE!
It’s been such a good year for me so far and things are moving forward nicely...
New Album
The new album Cross Country was released in January and the 14 tracks immediately started attracting a lot of attention in the UK, USA, Canada, Ireland and Europe. One of the songs “Scars and Stripes” has certainly caught people’s imaginations and tugged at some heart strings along the way. This song rose to number 3 in the Irish Country Top 10 and to number 4 in the Hotdisc Top 40.
All 14 songs are real stories about real people and real life.
If you like the Eagles and Bruce Springsteen, you are going to love this album.
New Sound
This year I have had the honour and pleasure to play with a number of outstanding musicians, and I have also started performing as a solo artist and as part of a duo and trio. This has been a very different but great experience for me, as I have been part of a band for a long time now.
The new sound is of course completely different, very stripped down and exposed. But the songs are good enough to stand alone and speak for themselves. It has been a real learning curve for me, but if a song is not good enough to be played and sung solo, then no amount of smoke and mirrors will make it sound any better.
Over the next few years I intend playing at as many events as possible and in particular Alternative Country Music festivals... so to any of you event/festival organisers out there, please get in touch if I haven’t already spoken to you.
This year I also started working with Allan Watkiss and the guys from UK Country Radio and they have done a fantastic job of promoting my music over the airwaves.
I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO PLAY WITH MY BAND AT THE UK COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS!
This is a real thrill for us as will be playing songs from the new album and previous albums.
Another great meeting was with Mr Ken Meekin and Miss Rachel Sellick of Country Music Social Media. Ken and Rachel have boosted my social media pages beyond my wildest imagination and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to create a solid fan base and gain more exposure. They are also lovely kind people who are a real pleasure to work with.
Later in September I am back over in San Francisco, with gigs lined up in Monterey and Sacramento and possibly San Diego, so I’m really looking forward to that. These will be solo gigs and will give me a chance to let the songs breath, speak more about the songs and about life.
BREAKING NEWS: Im really pleased to announce that I will be working with Nik Pizzigoni, Barb Leatherman and the guys at Whiskey And Cigarettes Radio. Hope to be playing a lot more in Europe, USA and elsewhere.
There are a lot more things going on and in the pipeline and I’ll keep you posted as they materialise.
God bless
Michael
