ALL THE LATEST - JANUARY 2021

All the Latest…

First of all I hope that this finds you all safe and well and that you have all been doing the right things to keep yourself and others safe and well.

The past 12 months have definitely been the strangest and often most challenging that I can recall.

These are definitely difficult times for everyone and working musicians are by no means any different. It doesn’t seem that long ago (March 2020) that I was playing in Las Vegas, with promises of many more shows in various areas of the USA and the UK, and then… boom!… its all over, well for now at least, with absolutely no light at the end of a very dark tunnel. I was extremely disappointed not to be playing at so many shows, festivals and events which had started coming in, but they will come again and we will all be there when the time is right.

I consider myself and many of my musician friends to be blessed to have survived the past 12 months when so many businesses have not, although I have to say it has been very tough financially.

The upside is that its given me more time to write new material and of course my new album Whisky came together during this period. The album is doing well thanks to you guys and has been very well received by the Music Press. 15 songs which I am very pleased to let you hear and I hope you download the album or order hard copy CDs via this website.

In January I fell on the ice and tore the tendons that attach my thigh on to my knee and damaged the knee cap… ouch!

So I’m immobile for 10-12 weeks with a leg brace on 24/7.

However, God always seems to be able to bring the best out of a bad situation and I have started writing the next album with another Glasgow based musician Tim Black. Tim is a wonderful guitar player, singer songwriter and all round musician’s musician and it’s a real pleasure (and honour) to be working with him. We already have three great songs finished and will keep on going until we have an album.

I’ve had some really nice write ups including one from journalist David Allan in Country Music People Magazine - read them here.

Hopefully as this year moves on, I will have more (good) news for you and maybe some dates of shows and events.

Till the next time… keep safe, keep well and take good care of each other.

Michael
