Glasgow singer-songwriter Michael McMillan has led a somewhat colourful career to date. From learning bagpipes as a youngster, he ran away to London at sixteen, playing in the city with various bands before returning home, and performing in the last eighteen months or so in the U.S.A as well as the U.K. Whisky is the sixth album. It’s the daily dramas of existence, relationships, family and the not-so-little questions of life and why we’re here that inform Whisky. The reflective nature that prevails throughout suggests that most listeners will be able to relate to many of the sentiments expressed on Whisky’s fifteen tracks, and that’s as good an entry point as any.

Country Music People

Country Music People

Glasgow born Michael McMillan has been writing and singing his own songs for some thirty years now, resulting in the release of half a dozen critically acclaimed albums. He began his musical career as a teenage drummer and he’s gone on to tour around the world. He is especially popular in America, where he recently appeared at a songwriters session in Las Vegas and was to have played more American gigs last year. He's also enjoyed a number of big Hotdisc hits. A million miles from the current Nashville product, Whisky is very rewarding indeed.

Good Times

Good Times

He describes himself as a singer songwriter, a teller of stories through his music. He has recorded six albums, one of which, Cross Country was, as Michael puts it, with modest self deprecation, fairly successful. That album began an international following that saw him labelled as a country artist, something that he doesn’t necessarily distance himself from. However for anyone who has listened to the man’s extraordinary output, his colourful palette has a much broader spectrum than just a single genre.

Cross Rhythms

Cross Rhythms

Meet Me At The Cross - the Glasgow singer/songwriter’s own brand of socially aware songs. There is now an air of confidence about Michael's latest release. A sound that reflects Michael's love of American acts like the Eagles, Jackson Browne and Crosby, Stills And Nash. It's clear that working with Scottish producer Sam Gallagher has paid dividends. The troubadour is in fine form for his fourth album Cross Country.
